Social Work Program’s Accreditation Re-Affirmed for Eight Years
Gwynedd Mercy University's Bachelor of Social Work program's accreditation was affirmed by the Council of Social Work Education (CSWE) for an additional eight years. The program was first awarded accreditation by the CSWE in 2020.
Students in the program are taught the competencies set forth by CSWE for beginning social workers, which is confirmed by testing and observation.
"Dr. Jance Nuss and I are proud of the program we have created and the students in our program. We are a mission-oriented program related to the Sisters of Mercy's dedication to service to others especially women and the poor. Our eight-year re-accreditation speaks to the hard work of our faculty and students in the program," Dr. Wade Luquet, BSW Program Director, said.
The re-accreditation process involved submitting an over 450-page document describing our program and how we assess student competency. All fifteen syllabi were submitted and reviewed as well as a review of faculty credentials. Following review by the Board of Accreditation, a site visitor came to the University to inspect the program and asked questions to be submitted for final review by the BOA.
"Graduate programs actively seek our students because of the level of training they receive in our BSW program at GMercyU," Dr. Luquet said.
